Summary
Fiscal Station HQ is designed as an offline-first personal finance application. Its core financial features operate without an online account or publisher-operated cloud database after software license activation. An internet connection is required for initial license activation and periodic license validation. Users may separately opt in to the Cloud Sync Beta described below.
Information stored by Fiscal Station HQ
Fiscal Station HQ may store information entered or imported by the user, including:
- account names, balances, and account details;
- transactions, categories, notes, and reconciliations;
- bills, subscriptions, paychecks, budgets, and allocations;
- savings goals and debt-planning information; and
- application preferences, including the user's preferred display name.
This information is stored locally under the signed-in operating-system user. Complete backup files are created only when the user requests a backup and are saved to a location selected by the user or browser/operating system.
Optional Cloud Sync Beta
Cloud Sync is disabled by default. If the user enables it, Fiscal Station HQ creates an encrypted working copy in a OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or other synchronized folder chosen by the user. The file is encrypted on the device using AES-256-GCM before the cloud-folder provider transports it. The encryption key is derived from a user-created passphrase; the locally remembered key is protected using operating-system secure storage where available. The passphrase is not sent to the Publisher, Microsoft, or Apple by Fiscal Station HQ and cannot be recovered by the Publisher.
The selected cloud provider may process the encrypted file and ordinary sync metadata under its own privacy terms. The Publisher does not receive or host the encrypted sync file. Cloud Sync retains one current encrypted copy and up to three encrypted recovery checkpoints. Disconnecting a device removes its local sync configuration but does not automatically delete the shared encrypted files from the selected folder.
Cloud Sync does not replace user-created JSON backups. Restoring a manual backup or resetting local data pauses sync so that an older synchronized revision is not silently reapplied.
Information transmitted to the publisher
The application does not automatically transmit financial records, usage analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or crash reports to the publisher. It does not automatically connect to banks or other financial institutions.
For software licensing, Fiscal Station HQ connects to Lemon Squeezy's License API. Activation and validation requests may include the license key, the activation instance identifier, and a device label based on the computer name. Lemon Squeezy may return purchase-related information such as the licensed product and customer email address. Fiscal Station HQ stores the license key locally using operating-system protected encryption where available. License records are separate from the local financial database and are not included in Fiscal Station HQ financial backups.
No account balances, transactions, bills, budgets, paychecks, savings data, debt information, notes, imported CSV rows, or backup contents are sent as part of a license activation or validation request. Lemon Squeezy processes licensing and purchase information under its own privacy terms.
Opening an external link, downloading an application update, obtaining the installer, or contacting support may involve the normal data practices of the user's browser, operating system, download provider, email provider, or hosting service. Those services operate under their own privacy terms.
Website, purchases, and support
When a user visits the Fiscal Station HQ website, joins a launch or mailing list, purchases a license, downloads an installer, or contacts support, the Publisher and the relevant service providers may process information such as the user's name, email address, purchase and license details, support-message contents, IP address, browser information, and ordinary service logs. Payment-card details are processed by the authorized commerce or payment provider and are not entered into the Fiscal Station HQ desktop application.
The Publisher uses this information to deliver purchases and downloads, validate licenses, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, communicate requested product information, maintain service security, and comply with legal and accounting duties. The Publisher does not sell personal information and does not use financial records stored in the desktop application for advertising.
Service providers may include Lemon Squeezy for commerce and licensing, the website hosting provider, email providers, and installer-hosting services. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy notice.
Retention and requests
Locally stored financial data remains on the user's devices until the user changes, resets, or deletes it. Encrypted Cloud Sync files remain in the selected cloud folder until the user deletes them. Purchase, licensing, support, security, and business records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution needs.
Users may contact the Publisher to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held directly by the Publisher. Some information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law. Requests concerning information held by a third-party provider may also need to be directed to that provider.
Data control and deletion
Users can export a complete Fiscal Station HQ backup from Settings. Users can also reset locally stored Fiscal Station HQ data from Settings. Removing the application may not remove separately downloaded backup files; those files must be deleted by the user. Users who enabled Cloud Sync must also delete the Fiscal Station HQ Sync workspace from their cloud folder if they want to remove its encrypted copies.
Security
Fiscal Station HQ relies on the security of the user's device and operating-system account. Users should use device encryption, a strong login password, current security updates, and appropriately protected backups. Fiscal Station HQ backups may contain sensitive financial information and should be handled accordingly. Users who enable Cloud Sync should use a unique passphrase, retain it in a password manager, secure their cloud-provider account with multifactor authentication, and allow the provider to finish syncing before switching computers.
Changes
This notice may be updated when Fiscal Station HQ adds features that change how data is stored, processed, or transmitted. The effective date will be updated when a material revision is published.
